What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address through our authentication provider (Clerk). When you set up a profile, we collect your home club, GHIN number, city, and state. All profile fields except name are optional.

When you play a game, we store your game configuration, player names, scores, and settlement results. When you submit a game request through the feedback form, we collect the game name, description, and optionally your email address.

When you use the mobile app, we collect a push notification token (a device identifier used to send notifications). This token is not linked to your personal identity and is used solely to deliver game invites, press alerts, and settlement notifications.

We collect subscription status and purchase history through RevenueCat, our subscription management provider. We do not store credit card numbers or payment details directly.

We do not collect payment information directly. Payment processing is handled by Apple (App Store purchases), Google (Google Play purchases), or Stripe (web purchases), each of which maintains its own privacy practices.

How we use your data

Your data is used to operate the Chalk & Settle platform: setting up games, tracking scores, calculating settlements, and displaying round history. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data storage

Game data and user profiles are stored in Supabase (hosted PostgreSQL, US region) with row-level security policies that restrict access to your own data. Scores and game state are also cached locally on your device for offline functionality. Your authentication session is managed by Clerk. Subscription entitlements are managed by RevenueCat.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

Clerk — authentication and user management
Supabase — database, real-time updates, and file storage
Stripe — web payment processing
Apple App Store — iOS payment processing and distribution
Google Play — Android payment processing and distribution
RevenueCat — subscription management and entitlement tracking
Vercel — web hosting
Sentry — error monitoring and crash reporting
Capacitor — native app framework (no data collection)

Each service maintains its own privacy policy governing how it handles your data. We do not share your personal data with any advertising networks, data brokers, or marketing partners.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. We do not display ads in the app or on the website. We do not use advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or behavioral analytics tools. Your data is used exclusively to operate the Chalk & Settle platform.

The only circumstances in which we may disclose your data are: (1) when required by law, subpoena, or legal process; (2) to protect the rights, safety, or property of Chalk & Settle or its users; or (3) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case you will be notified.

Cookies and local storage

We use browser local storage to cache game data for offline play and faster load times. Clerk uses cookies to maintain your authentication session. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

Push notifications

If you enable push notifications, we store a device token provided by Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). This token is used to send you game invites, score updates, press alerts, and settlement notifications. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings. Disabling notifications removes our ability to send alerts but does not delete the stored token until you request account deletion.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at hello@chalkandsettle.com. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data from our systems within 30 days.

Data deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting hello@chalkandsettle.com. Upon receiving a verified deletion request:

Your user profile, game history, and scores will be permanently deleted from Supabase within 30 days
Your authentication account will be removed from Clerk
Your subscription will be canceled (you must also cancel through Apple/Google/Stripe to stop billing)
Locally cached data on your device can be cleared by uninstalling the app or clearing browser data
Anonymized, aggregated data that cannot be linked to you may be retained for analytics purposes

This process complies with CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) requirements.

Children's privacy

Chalk & Settle is rated 17+ and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a person under 18, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us at hello@chalkandsettle.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of the platform after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
